It’s time to unbox your new Instant Pot, multicooker or pressure and learn the basics of vegan cooking in minutes! Samples include risotto and umami beans

Class 2: Air Frying 101

11 to 11:45 a.m.

Fried food with little or no oil? Yep, it’s a thing and JL will show you how it works! Samples include fried tofu and fried pasta bites.

Class 3: Quick & Easy Recipes to Fuel the Plant-Based Athlete

12 to 12:45

Plant-powered athletes, it’s time to add some simple recipes to your cooking routine! Vegan triathlon and swim coach Dave Burgess joins JL in the demo kitchen! Samples include super smoothie and {good}carb-packed nutrition bar.

  • Full refund for cancellations four days prior to class.
  • 75% refund for cancellations three days (72-hours) prior to class.
  • 50% refund for cancellations two days (48-hours) prior class.
  • Full refund if the class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment.

If you prefer a teaching environment in the comfort of your own home, consider individual or small group kitchen coaching with your friends and family (up to four people). A private vegan cooking class, we come up with a menu in advance, you do the shopping, and I come to you to provide culinary instruction and cook with you.

*Outside of Colorado Springs? I can travel up to 90 miles from Colorado Springs – same rate + mileage reimbursement + $25/hr travel time (payable via separate invoice)

I join you in your kitchen – via Skype, Zoom, or Facebook Video Chat – to teach you the basics of vegan pressure cooking, air frying, or “real world vegan” cooking. I can help you with your Instant Pot (or other multicookers, such as Fagor LUX or GoWISE 8 in 1) or stovetop pressure cooker. I can walk you through how to use your air fryer. Or together we can go appliance-free and create simply vegan meals!

JL Fields is the founder and culinary director of the Colorado Springs Vegan Cooking Academy. She is a Master Vegan Lifestyle Coach & Educator, Food for Life instructor, chef instructor in the culinary program at the University of New Mexico-Taos, personal chef, career coach, and a corporate consultant offering wellness training, brand representation, and strategic planning services.

JL is the author of the revised and updated Vegan Pressure Cooking: More Than 100 Delicious Grain, Bean, and One-Pot Meals Using a Traditional or Electric Pressure Cooker or Instant Pot® (Fair Winds Press, January 2018) and The Vegan Air Fryer: The Healthier Way to Enjoy Deep-Fried Flavors (Vegan Heritage Press, June 2017) and co-author of The Main Street Vegan Academy Cookbook: Over 100 Plant-Sourced Recipes Plus Practical Tips for the Healthiest, Most Compassionate You (Ben Bella, December 2017) and Vegan for Her: The Woman’s Guide to Being Healthy and Fit on a Plant-Based Diet (Da Capo Lifelong Books, July 2013). She is the co-creator of The Real World Vegan Meal Plan, producer and host of the radio program Easy Vegan, and writes the monthly vegan dining review for the Colorado Springs Gazette.

A devoted culinary student, JL has studied at the Natural Gourmet Institute and Organic Avenue and completed the Intensive Study Program at The Christina Pirello School of Natural Cooking and Integrative Health Studies. She is certified by – and on the faculty of – the Main Street Vegan Academy, is certified as a Food for Life Instructor by Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and holds a Master of Science degree.

JL provides in-person vegan cooking services, lifestyle coaching and classes in Colorado Springs and the surrounding area as well as Skype and/or phone coaching throughout the U.S. and internationally. She provides career consulting for health and wellness coaches, chefs, and other professionals who want to develop their coaching practice.

JL is the owner and lead consultant for JL Fields Consulting, providing governance and strategic planning services to nonprofits and culinary and online outreach services to food associations and marketing firms.
