Giveaways! A signed copy of Vegan Pressure Cooking AND a Fagor Multi-Cooker!

Well, dear readers, yesterday was the big day – publication day for Vegan Pressure Cooking!

This book simply would not have been possible without you, readers of this blog. I fell in love with pressure cooking and started writing about it and sharing recipes with you. And many of you became as cuckoo for pressure cooking as I am! It’s been such a fun journey together and my heart is full of gratitude for each of you! I am also incredibly grateful for the fun comments you’ve been leaving me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram about loving the book! If you already have a copy of my new cookbook, may I ask a favor? Would you head over to Amazon and leave a review? (Public opinion really helps people decide which books to buy!)

Today I’m thrilled to announce that I’m partnering with Fagor America on my book tour!

Vegan Pressure Cooking book tour sponsored by Fagor America

Fagor stovetop pressure cookers have been my go-to devices for years. As soon as I signed the contract with Fair Winds I reached out to Fagor to let them know about my book and that I would be listing them as a resource. Collaborating on this book tour just made sense.

As we started planning, Fagor told me about their 3-in-1 electric multi-cooker – a pressure, slow and, rice cooker! – so of course I had to try it out, along with the Cayenne line of stainless steel stovetop pressure cookers.

Both are so simple to use and, well, simply solid. The electric multi-cooker is programmable and doesn’t require tending to. Meaning you can set it and forget it while you’re puttering around the house or getting ready for work. It offers both high and low pressure options and the brown setting gives great heat for sauteing, making this truly ideal for one-pot meals. The Cayenne stovetop pressure cooker is heavy-duty (and gorgeous) and my beans, rice and veggies all cook up perfectly. What can I say? I’m a Fagor fan-girl!

And that’s why I’ll be using the Fagor 3-in-1 Multi-Cooker

and a gorgeous Cayenne stovetop pressure cooker, as seen on the my book cover (cover and all photos by Kate Lewis),

Vegan Pressure Cooking

  1. I love my pressure cooker, but it’s really big and made for canning. A smaller one would really assist me in goals to eat healthier

  2. We eat lots of beans in my house, pressure cooking them makes it so much faster and easier.

  3. I love to use my pressure cooker for beans–it really makes short work of cooking budget friendly dried beans.

  4. I haven’t used a pressure cooker but I’d really want to try making stews and desserts in it!

  5. I don’t own a pressure cooker, but I would love to have one. I love veggie chilli and soups. Thanks for the chance to win!

  6. Congratulations! I am so excited about your new book. Love my pressure cooker but I think it is time for an upgrade!

  7. I’ve never tried pressure cooking. I’m an avid and curious cook, but somehow pressure cooking has always intimidated me. It does sound incredibly useful, though, especially for cooking beans and legumes, which I happen to use extensively! Thank you for hosting this fantastic giveaway, JL, and congratulations on your new book!

  8. I own a Fagor stovetop model but haven’t used it much lately…. I’ve beem waitong for this fabulous cookbook AND an electric model pressure cooker…..hope to win one or both I’m so excited to have the chance!!!

  9. I’ve used rice cookers and slow cookers. This would be amazing as 2015 I try to branch out from the boring recipes I’ve been making. My family is on board and I’d love to cook more tasty meals as we all make the plant based transition!

  10. I am very proud of you my friend. Your hard work and dedication is being rewarded proportionately. You know how I feel about pressure cooking (remember you helped me give mine away on a cross-blog post?). I would be willing to give it another shot, especially with a book full of recipes from you! Congratulations, JL. I am so happy for you.

    1. Thank you so much, Lee (@VeganVersion:disqus)! I think you would love a 3-in-1 – with the rice cooking and slow cooking functionality alone. But close the lid, choose high pressure for 10, and come back to cooked beans!

  11. The first thing I would try would be rice! Ever since I moved and now have an electric stove, I have not been able to get perfect rice. I dream of it…

  12. I don’t have one. Would love to start by cooking beans in it. So much faster and less messy than stovetop (my beans always boil over!)

  13. Pressure cooking changed my life!!!!!! I love pressure cooking potatoes for the best mashed potatoes EVER!!!!!

  14. I love the ease and speed of pressure cooking. Soups and stews are the best! Thanks for a chance to win.

  15. I would love to win an electric one!! Then, I would make beans for chili and some soups!!

  16. I really want to try pressure cooking, especially for beans. I remember my mother’s pressure cooker as being a kind of scary ordeal, she would just haul it out for canning in the summer, and be worried about it exploding the whole time it was on the stove. I would really like to get over that notion.

  17. My pressure cooker is on its way, and I’m excited to be able to cook beans and grains so much faster.

  18. I have never used a pressure cooker but look forward to making anything easier with one. I love to cook since going vegan and am always looking for new things to cook in new ways.

  19. Thanks to you I bought a pressure cooker last year, but have only used it once. I need your book!! 🙂 I saw your recipe for Umami Anasazi Beans on Vegan Mos blog and may make it this weekend. It looks AMAZING!! Not sure if I can find the beans locally or if I have to order online. And I’m sure I can use pinto beans, but I’d rather try the Anasazi beans,

    1. Pintos are a great substitute for the Anasazi beans but treat yourself and find them. They are so pretty! And of course delicious, @disqus_zxdvPjLaiT:disqus!

  20. I would love this! I use an old fashioned pressure canner but I can’t cook in it so this would be incredible.

  21. I own an electric one, and used it a lot, but haven’t in years. I’m interested in making more soups, beans, and seitan.

  22. I have an Instant Pot. I use it mostly for soups and pots of beans. I love the saute and slow cook functions, as well as the pressure cooker.

  23. I don’t own one (yet) but I would love to do batch cooking at the beginning of the week. Or a seitan roast. Or mashed potatoes. I’ve been reading your blog for a while and pretty much want to try all the pressure cooker recipes 🙂

  24. I like pressure cooking a lot! I have never used the newer generation ones; I bought a basic Presto jiggle top and the Lorna Sass book. The charts for grains and beans are a great tool. Vegan risotto, lentil and rice dishes, lots of Indian curries are some of my favorite things to make. Just this morning I made steel cut oats for breakfast in 10min.

I am so happy that a new vegan pressure cooking book is available! You are making a great contribution to the communities and I tell people about pressure cooking whenever I can. I got one for my brother and he uses it all the time. Good luck on your tour! I bet many people will be inspired and new converts to cooking fast, healthy and flavorful food.

  25. I don’t yet have a pressure cooker, but I’d love to be able to cook dried beans quickly. I always mean to do that, but end up buying canned instead.

  26. I love my electric pressure cooker. Makes beans so fast! I need to use it more though – need more quick ideas!

  27. So interested in trying this great way of cooking. Have been scared of them all my life but open to learning how to use them!!

  28. I pressure cook dried beans almost daily. It is invaluable. My favorite dishes to make are black bean chili and rajma stew.

  29. I was born and brought up in India; so, I use pressure cooker a lot. I usually cook rice and lentils, potatoes, all kinds of curries, khichdi, etc.

  30. I’m VERY new to pressure cooking. The idea of beans or your setain cooked so quickly fascinates me.

  31. I have a pressure cooker and lately have been doing lots of beans in it! I have found myself wanting another one. Seems like a wonderful thing to be able to have two going at once.

  32. my new favourite thing to pressure cook is the butter bean!!! (aka baby lima beans). as the name implies is has a buttery texture and makes the most awesome vegeburgers! i hope there is a butter bean recipe in the book 🙂

    1. I have a pesto-style bean dip recipe in the book, @disqus_9vqTvJVAcQ:disqus, in which you sub lima beans! 🙂 (But you have me inspired to work more with lima beans…I was one of those weird kids that grew up loving ’em!)

  33. I don’t own one, nor have I ever used one. I look forward to cooking healthy meals quickly for the family….black eyed peas are a favorite

  34. Hi, I have very limited experience with pressure cooking … I did make a couple batches of black beans on my friend’s Fagor and would love to have my own so I can start saving money! btw they taste SO much better than canned!!!

  35. Rice or beans is my fav to cook in the pressure cooker. I’d love to get your new cookbook!

  36. I vaguely recall my grandmother using a pressure cooker to make beans. I’ve never used one, so it would be exciting to try a new, yet old, way of cooking!

  37. I tend to use the PC most for green or yellow split pea soup. I do use it for beans but not as often as I should. (If Ginny is listening, I KNOW, I KNOW, I SHOULD EAT MORE BEANS.)

  38. I love making smoky collard greens in the pressure cooker. It’s such a simply, quick, and satisfying side!

  39. I’m interested in seeing how you can make dishes with ingredients that take different times to cook! Thanks so much for the chance to win.

  41. I have a pressure cooker but sadly it has leaked from day one despite working with the manufacturer and getting a new handle. Still works, but takes a little longer to cook. Would love to try the Fagor model. So far I’ve made only beans (lots and lots of beans!) but look forward to using your cookbook to make other dishes.

  42. New to this idea so I do not have any favorites yet. Willing to try anything though! 🙂

  43. I’ve never used a pressure cooker but being able to cook beans quickly sounds amazing to me!

  44. I love cooking bean soups in my pressure cooker. I would love to give one of these to my daughter who lives in a tiny efficiency apartment.

  45. My mom used a pressure cooker quite frequently but I have yet to try one myself. I’m glad there is a book for Vegan Pressure Cooking!

  46. I use a stove-top pressure cooker just for cooking beans. I haven’t tried anything else, but would love to do more! The idea of complete meals in minutes is so compelling.

  47. I have never cooked with one but have always wanted to ! I would start off with trying a veggie stew, yum! 😀

  48. a 3 in 1 that’s fabulous, especially if you have a small apartment and no room for additional appliances!

  49. I just purchased one for my fiance, and we are getting so excited to use it for the first time! We’re going to can fresh tuna he caught!

  50. Oh! I’ve seen this book on Amazon. I would totally use it, if I had a pressure cooker. I only recently found out there are electric ones, as opposed to the scary ones with the pop-off dial my Mom used when I was a kid.

  51. I love cooking brown rice (perfect every time) and my breakfast oatmeal using the timer function!

  52. This is something I want to try this year! I’d love to make some vegan chilis and casseroles.

  53. I’ve owned a stovetop pressure cooker for over 17 years and I love using it for soups and rissottos!

  54. I don’t own one but during the week I don’t want to spend an hour making dinner after working and taking care of the critters. I love chili, I love beans, I love seitan stew, the list goes on!

  55. Congratulations to Nate D, winner of the Fagor Multi-Cooker AND the signed copy of Vegan Pressure Cooking!
