Is Vegan Meal Prep gluten-, nut-, and oil-free?

Is my new cookbook gluten-, nut-, and oil-free?

If you're new to eating plant-based or vegan, you may be a little confused. Does eating vegan mean no oil, salt or sugar? Of course not! But some people do choose to eliminate those ingredients from their diet for health conditions or diseases (or the prevention of either) or as a form of dieting - many in this category may identify somewhere on the "whole foods plant-based" spectrum and may or may not identify as vegan.

Most folks who identify as "vegan" simply avoid all animal products in their diet (and in the clothing they wear, the make-up they use, etc.). Sure, lots of vegans happen to eat diets that are heavily based on whole foods, too, but, as vegans, see it more of a lifestyle.

And then there are vegans and whole food plant-based folks who also need to avoid gluten and/or nuts due to food allergies.

What does this mean for a vegan cookbook author?

Well, I always want to create recipes that follow my ethics and of course I want to make sure that many are adaptable for all kinds of plant-based dietary approaches. So I was positively thrilled when my publisher loved my idea to create a recipe index in the back of Vegan Meal Prep that lists each recipe alphabetically (with the page number) and includes a chart indicating if the recipe is (or can be made) gluten-, nut- and/or oil-free.

Ready for this?

Of the 70 recipes, over 60 are, or can be made, gluten-free, over 50 nut-free, and over 40 oil-free. And for those of you well-versed in adapting recipes to fit your dietary choices, you can no doubt make even more of the recipes gluten-, nut-, and/or oil-free!

See? Something for everyone!
