Green (Tea) Smoothie for Two (Organic Matcha Powder GIVEAWAY!)

I was recently offered the opportunity to sample and review Kiss Me Organics’ organic matcha powder. I was happy to oblige!

I know that green tea is good for you. I try to drink it but my deference is always to coffee (sorry, I’m not sorry). One serving of matcha powder is supposed to equal 10 cups of green tea so I added it to a smoothie because though I’m not big on protein powders I do try to add nutritious ingredients to my smoothies (like hemp seeds, flax oil, etc.).

I suspected the matcha powder would be a bit overpowering so I added vibrant, zesty parsley to the smoothie, as well as very sweet frozen fruit (a blend of grapes, pineapple, strawberries and mango). I was completely wowed by this thick, creamy smoothie and my husband, who somewhat reluctantly accepted the very green glass of breakfast from me, was equally wowed and exclaimed, “That’s a keeper!”

Green (Tea) Smoothie for Two

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 teaspoons Organic Matcha
  • 1 cup mixed frozen fruit (I went on the sweet side)
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh parsley
  • 1 cup ice

Add all ingredients to a blender, blend until smooth, serve and enjoy!

YIELD: Serves 2

  1. Frozen berries, frozen banana, kale, blackstrap molasses. After blending I like to add some cereal on top for some chew!

  2. frozen pears+vanilla protein powder+Barlean’s greans chocolate silk flavor+ground chia seeds+spirulina powder = my absolute favorite!

  3. Apple, frozen berries, kelp powder, chia seeds, flax, vegan omega gel, kale/chard/spinach with green tea as liquid!

  4. One of my faves is a Mango Lassi green smoothie. I use kale, frozen mango, frozen banana, almond milk, a pinch of salt, cardamom and rosewater.

  5. My favorite smoothie ingredients are flax milk, dates, frozen bananas, spinach, and blueberries! Yum!

  6. My usual is silken tofu, hemp/chia, spinach, frozen fruit (lately banana, blueberries, mango), and almond milk. I bet matcha would go in nicely!

  7. Frozen blueberries, bananas, some silken tofu, almond milk and then a mix of other things usually tastes good to me.

  8. I’ve been adding about 1/4 of an avocado to every smoothie, along with a banana. They make my smoothies nice & creamy and very filling.

    1. Coconut water, banana, dates, cacoa nibs, coconut butter (or chocolate coconut butter), cinnamon, cardamom and spinach.

  9. frozen peach slices, frozen mango, frozen banana, vanilla almond milk, a dash of agave. And I’ve been known to throw in vegan green or vanilla protein powder.

  10. My favorite smoothie ingredients are kale, strawberries, blackberries, peaches, non dairy yogurt, orange juice, and frozen bananas.

  11. I bought some matcha tea a couple years ago and it has a fishy flavor to me, so will try this brand! Just yesterday I saw it sitting in the fridge and was thinking I’d try it in a smoothie rather than drink it. I always put chia seeds, cinnamon and vanilla in my smoothies – recently making an effort to put kale or spinich in with the fruit, get away from protein powders and use nuts iinstead, and go with unsweetened almond milk rather than soy.

  12. Bananas, almond butter, coconut, almond milk, cocoa mixed in the vitamin – almost like ice cream…

  13. Kale, peeled lemon, fall cranberries, chia seed, and celery. If I add fruit, I like peeled orange, wild blueberries or organic strawberries. Spirulina contains neurotoxins (new info — in the past it was deemed safe) so I avoid it.

  14. I get an amazing ginger, pineapple, soymilk, orange smoothie from Mariposa Market in Willits, California. When we make them at home, I love a classic strawberry, banana, blueberry smoothie. Definitely going to try this one out, though!

  15. Cucumber, avocado, banana, handful of various leafy greens, coconut water, ground seeds, and sometimes a little flax or coconut oil. Yummy!

  16. 1 scoop RAW chocolate protein powder
1 scoop Amazing Grass Chocolate Green Superfood
    1T chia seeds
    1T maca powder
    2T Peanut Butter
    1 banana
Fill cup with organic vanilla almond milk (I make mine in a magic bullet. So probably 1-2c)

Blend and enjoy. Great post workout smoothie!

  17. I love love love matcha! I like to make a matcha latte with soymilk and a few drops of agave nectar. For smoothies, I usually go peanutbutter-banana-almondmilk.

  18. organic frozen cherries, raw cacao powder and coconut milk. Sometimes I throw in some power greens or hemp protein powder.

  19. very ripe banana, fresh ginger, strawberries, chia seed and flax seed, with vanilla protein powder or unflavored if I have it.

  20. My favorite vegan ingredient for my smoothies is strawberries. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.

  21. Carob powder raw- discovered it in my freezer when I ran out of my raw cocoa powder. I love it now I use in smoothies, avocado pudding, oatmeal, frosting(cake) and spiced toasted nuts. Thanks
