It was inevitable.
You know I love wine. Vegan wine. Red vegan wine.
The wine aficionados at Vintners’ Alliance figured that out, too, and recently invited me to become an affiliate of their online wine store. Because they have a vegan wine section!
They sent me a few vegan red wines to sample.
- The 2006 d’Arenberg The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon is great without food. I love a big Cabernet that you can drink alone, you know, that glass of wine after work? This works.
- I prefer the Paul Dolan Vineyards Potter Valley Pinot Noir (2010) with food. It’s light and complements a heavy hors d’oeuvres – we sipped it while noshing on mini skewers of Tofurky Italian sausage, Daiya Havarti wedge and banana peppers.
-
The Parducci Wine Cellars Small Lot Blend Zinfandel (2010) is excellent with or without food. We enjoyed a glass with a flavorful Hungarian chickpea dish spiced with paprika. Red Zins are my absolute favorite wine to pair with zesty foods.
