Vegan Food Activism on Our Hen House + NYC volunteer opportunities at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary

Good Friday morning to you!  I’m on my way up to Harriman State Park in New York to help out at the TriRock triathlon.  My racing – most likely a duathlon this year – will happen later in the summer so I’m excited to volunteer for this early race.

As many of you know, I serve on the advisory board of Our Hen House.  At a recent meeting with OHH co-founders Jasmin Singer and Mariann Sullivan they asked me what I had been up to. I told them and the next thing I knew I was (happily!) writing a guest post:

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the piece If You Write It, They Will Read; If You Bake It, They Will Eat: Vegan Food Activism With JL Fields and I hope you’ll share your “food activism” stories in the comment section of the post on Our Hen House.

You also probably know that I am on the board of directors for the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary.  For New York City WFAS fans who find it tough to get upstate to volunteer, I have two ways for you to get involved in NYC:

This event is a fun annual tradition where the streets of the Village are temporarily taken over by a peace-loving mob of kale-crunchers. It all ends in a daylong exhibition at Union Square Park.  Contact WFAS if you’d like to volunteer or march with the WFAS team. Show your support and veggie pride!

  • On June 16 and 17 WFAS will be at The Seed (a vegan experience in SoHo, for which I serve as an advisor). Can you volunteer at the exhibit table?  Contact WFAS!

If you do plan to visit Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, you may want to go up on June 2 for this fabulous event:

Have a great day!
