I would move to Austin,TX for this: Capital City Bakery {Vegan}

Last August I had the most extraordinary experience when I attended Vida Vegan Con. I learned a great deal on veganism and how to write about it on my blog – and I met people who have become lifelong friends.  Kristen Davenport is one of those friends.

Kristen and I have stayed in touch over the past eight months and I have watched her conceive, develop and now launch a vegan bakery.

Mint Julep Cake

I want to move to Austin, Texas.

Capital City Bakery is Austin’s newest vegan bakery.

They offer cupcakes, custom layer cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, and other small pastries for special order or wholesale.  They will be opening up a food trailer in spring 2012, serving artisan vegan pastries (and vegan dog treats for doggie customers, too).  Capital City Bakery was built on a love for food, a desire to foster community, and a passion for providing Austin with high quality pastries made from scratch. All of their baked goods are made fresh daily, cholesterol-free, and made from locally-sourced/organic ingredients when possible.

Capital City Bakery will debut is at Texas VegFest

on March 31st, where they will sell cupcakes and other baked goods. (They are running giveaways for free cupcakes at Texas VegFest via their Facebook page all this week!)

I have only one request of you, my dear readers.  Please “like” Capital City Bakery on Facebook

Yum, Strawberry Shortcake!

because this is where Kristen will provide up-to-date news and specials.  It’s so easy, just click here to like the bakery!

Kristen Davenport is an award-winning baker who has over 5 years of professional food service experience, and has been baking since she was tall enough to see over the kitchen counter. She is a graduate of ACC Culinary in Austin, and has been featured in the Austin Chronicle for her baking efforts. She also won 1st Place in the Vegan Tasting Category in the Austin Cake Show 2011.

Kristen has been vegan for 4 years, and vegetarian for almost a decade. Originally from Louisiana, she was raised in Houston, and has lived in Austin for 4 years with her rescued kitty, Milo.

Kristen will be wholesaling her goods to many of Austin’s local vegan business including: Counter Culture, Rabbit Food Grocery (Austin’s only all-vegan grocery), and Sweet Ritual (she is providing brownies for brownie sundaes).  Her goal is to have a storefront where she can teach vegan baking and cooking classes to the Austin Community!

Carrot Cake Cupcakes!

I am so proud of Kristen and cannot wait to watch her bakery, and her passion for vegan baking, soar beyond her wildest imagination!
