Real World Vegan Meal Plans | RealWorldVeganMeals.com

Where whole foods and convenience come together to help you follow a plant-based diet!

What does “real world” mean?

It means most of us don’t actually eat 21 meals at home each week. We don’t cook each and every meal from scratch.

Not a diet, not allergy-free, not low-fat / no-oil, simply a way to eat for most people who want wholesome recipes to cook at home and to find the best convenience options.

The 3-Month FALL/WINTER Real World Vegan Meal Plan

$3.25 a week for a vegan meal plan? Yep! Purchase here.

3 month fall winter rwvmp

Developed by JL Fields – a cookbook author, certified Food for Life instructor, personal chef, and certified vegan lifestyle coach – and Dave Burgess – a triathlon and swim coach who holds a certificate in sports nutrition – our meal plans are for the vegan/vegetarian/veg-curious person who has some time to cook at home but needs quick and easy ideas, too. This 175 page, three-month meal plan – only $3.25 a week – includes 88 recipes (including pressure cooking instructions!), 158 meal ideas, and 26 tips to help you navigate dining out, travel, grocery shopping and storing food.

12 weekly meal plans include:

  • Six to eight recipes for a family of four; this is an easy number to reduce if you’re cooking for one or two, or to increase if your family is a little larger (sign up for the six-month plan and we’ll customize the recipe to 2, 4, or 6 servings to meet your needs). At least two recipes are bulk-cooked items that can be used in several recipes and/or frozen for future use.
  • A shopping list for the recipes.
  • Meal “ideas” with grocery shopping suggestions.
  • Tips on how to navigate meals out at restaurants, at work, or in social settings.

We do not place each meal in a calendar, because how do we know when you’ll be home to cook or eat? You make the recipes and meal ideas when you want. Purchase our three-month FALL/WINTER meal plan here.

  1. For me, real world vegan encompasses making food from scratch MOST of the time. Having veggieburgers and other quick eats (homemade if possible) in the freezer; and eating out sometimes!

  2. It probably looks different for everyone. Real world for me is creating the healthiest meals I can as often as I can for my family. But life happens and some days might not look so ‘healthy’!

  3. Real world vegan means being able to remain vegan while in any dining situation. I have found that by being creative and flexible, we are able to adapt to situations like weddings, office dinners, etc.

  4. Real world vegan means making healthy meals from accessible plant based items. I live in a rural area and many fancy vegan products are just not available. The closest Whole Food store or Trader Joe’s is a 3.5 hour drive for me mostly on a 2 lane road with a bunch of tourist not even driving the speed limit so I like using what I can find at my local grocery store and make most of my pantry items from scratch. I do drive my local store nuts though requesting vegan item all the time. We now have Just Mayo in our local market along with Silk yogurt (that only took me bugging them for 4 years)

  5. It means to keep an open mind toward different cuisines, and to help others become vegans at their own pace.

  6. Real world vegan means sometimes I order cheese-less pizza. Sometimes I eat salad. And sometimes I cook from scratch and sometimes I use convenience foods.

  7. I guess for me it means living my veganism however life comes at me. On the best days I have plenty of fresh produce, mostly organic, and a pantry full of staples, and time to create delicious and nourishing meals. On the best days I have no trouble finding vegan shoes/belts/cosmetics/household items. For less-than-the-best days I have some quick go-to meals (either restaurants or something quick to prepare but that may not be as wholesome), and I search hard, or do without some of those non-food items that may be hard to find in vegan form. On the not-so-great days I make do with a plain salad or the ubiquitous pasta-with-tomato-sauce that so many maintstream restaurants use as their solution for vegans and vegetarians, and I just plain do without those other items. The main point is to live vegan, whatever comes my way.

  8. for me real world encompasses a couple of ideas … it means you are eating real unprocessed ingredients… but you also have a busy life and cannot make every little thing from scratch. (usually due to a time constraint)

  9. Real world vegan, to me, is about making things as close to scratch as possible, but depending on a few shortcuts as needed. It’s keeping it ‘real’, not judging yourself when you have to make some adjustments to fit into your time/lifestyle.

  10. It means eating in moderation, not demonizing sugar/fat/oil, and getting the proper nutrition 🙂

  11. Hmmm… for me, real world vegan means making the best choices you can when life gets busy, cooking healthy plant-based meals as much as you can but making smart choices when ordering takeout or eating out. 🙂

  12. Real World= meals I can make with my limited $$$ of food stamps! I’m a starving art college student (double whammy), and a LOT of vegan recipes out there call for annoying ingredients like agar agar or a fancy brand of vegan cheese. NOT COOL!

  13. Real world vegan is about being as environmental conscious as possible and considering the source and processes used to prepare all foods

  14. To me, real world vegan means doing all you feasibly can to reduce/eliminate suffering for all sentient beings.

  15. to me real world vegan means using the healthiest fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, and nuts that we can find locally ,and then transforming them in our own kitchens by cooking, blending, dehydrating, and sharing what we have made, full of life, and love.

  16. Real world to me means living vegan in an omni – heavy community. I make the best options possible when at home, but I want to also attend cookouts with friends. Sometimes that means processed vegan foods. It lets me “fit in” while still eating vegan.

  17. Real world vegan means doing the best I can with the food available (the situation that I’m in at the time).

  18. Real world vegan – doing what you can, when you can given the busy lives we all lead. I think it also means consuming real vegan food as opposed to the processed stuff.

  19. Eating the most wholesome (vegan, of course!) food I can within the constraints of the moment. Some days (weeks) this means more processed things than I would prefer, but I try to keep lots of veggies in the mix. Easy meal ideas are always welcome, it’s easy to get into a rut!

  20. To me “Real World Vegan” means doing the best I can while following my heart and what I KNOW is right for the world and all beings <3
