I hate sad posts. But today I am sad.
Long ago my husband and I opted for a fur-family. Two humans in the house was plenty but we had no problem with a dog and cat, then a cat and a cat, and most recently a cat, a cat and a cat. Yep, last August we became crazy cat people when we rescued kitten Ernie.
Up until yesterday, this was our family.
Baby Ernie is on the floor, middle sister CK is above him. And Matisse, their 19-year old older sister
left us yesterday.
Our hearts our broken but we are grateful for all of the years that we loved her fiercely and she loved us right back.

Oh, JL I’m so sorry. My heart goes out to you! We just lost our 16-year-old feline companion last month and I understand how heart-wrenching and devastating it is. I like to remember how much mutual love we shared and how much joy and happiness he brought us. Now I’m showering extra love on my little one, as I’m sure you’ll do with Matisse’s sisters!
I’m so sorry to hear about your kitty. 🙁 Our animals are part of our family and it’s never easy to say goodbye. So sad for you guys.
19 years! She clearly had a good life. Of course you’ll miss her, but she lived a very long and very good life and hopefully that will bring you some comfort.

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss, JL. As a fellow fur-mom, I can only imagine how it must change your world to have her gone. But, as you and others have said, it does seem like she had a wonderful life with you and I know her pawprints will be forever on your heart. Hugs!
My heart breaks for you and Dave. I wish you both love and comfort as you come to terms with no longer having Matisse here with you in body. Remember, she is still with you in spirit and always will be. What a wonderful, long, healthy live filled with love you both gave her. xx
I’m sorry to hear about the passing of Matisse. Losing a feline family member is very hard, especially because their presence makes up so much of what is “home.” Sending many loving thoughts your way…
I’m so sorry. We lost our 16-year old cat last year, and I just got a new (rescued 10-year-old) two weeks ago. It breaks your heart to lose them, but it breaks your heart even more when you know they’re in pain.
Take comfort in the comfort she now has, and of course, in your memories. My thoughts are with you all!

Aw, I’m so sorry, JL!! 🙁 That’s so sad. But at least you two gave Matisse a very long and happy kitty life! I have a six-cat/two-dog fur family too, and some of mine are getting up there in age. It’s scary because we know when we become fur parents that we’ll likely outlive our babies, but it sucks when that becomes reality. Hang in there!
I am so, so sorry. Losing a furry family member is just devastating. We lost our almost-15-year-old dog last month and it is heartbreaking. At least beautiful Matisse got to experience a home filled with love.

and I have had three losses over the years of our family pets. it’s really tough. but when they were
with us and happy and healthy, it was so much fun with them as a family! remember the good
times!
I am so very sorry for your loss. We lost our “first born” in July. It was heartbreaking, but, like you, I remind myself that he had a wonderful life and was very happy, up to his last day. My condolensces.
