My husband, Dave, and I are in Miami for work (poor us, right?) and my days have been jammed.
But we have found time to get our for a morning run
and to discover some very tasty meals.
Last night Dave (the omnivore) and I dined at Escopazzo in South Beach. We selected this place because in addition to a traditional Italian menu – with organic items – there is a separate raw, vegan menu! Take a look at just a few of the many offerings:
I started with the avocado, grapefruit and fennel salad.
I love fennel and grapefruit together. Fabulous salad.
Then I enjoyed the raw lasagna.
I mean I really, really enjoyed it! So many great vegetables layered with a variety of flavors made for a inventive and incredibly filling dish.
But not too full for the vegan dessert, a Ganache with Balkan sea salt.
I wanted to love this dessert but I just didn’t. I did eat the top layer of salt with a bit of the sweet bite (perhaps I simply prefer my ganache in between layers of a cake or rolled up in a truffle).
Dessert aside, this was an incredible meal. It’s the perfect place to go when you’re in a mixed group of vegans and omnivores!

You went to Escopazzo!!! I adored the lasagna there, and had such a fabulous time when I went myself. Thanks for drawing attention to it; I love how they have a dedicated vegan and raw menu alongside an omnivorous one. Brave, and very likely to be how people “stumble upon” the beauty of vegan dishes.
Yes! I really do appreciate restaurants that offer vegan menus – it makes vegan food so much more accessible!
