Fifteen years ago today…

…Dave and I got married.

Much has changed over the years.

We met in Chicago, moved to New York and are now in Colorado.

I was just starting a new position as executive director of a rape crisis center and he was new to IT desktop support at MTV. Today he is a triathlon and swim coach and I am a consultant, writer, and vegan lifestyle coach and educator.

We were fairly sedentary in our lifestyles and later we both became runners and triathletes.

We were both meat-eaters, mostly following a standard American diet. Over the years we both changed how we ate – shifting to more whole foods – but my changes went further, first vegetarian and then vegan, and it became about much more than food. Dave didn’t follow me on that particular path, though I would say he is the most vegan omnivore I know, but he is now vegetarian at home.

Last night my non-vegan husband made us a vegan dinner.

For fifteen years we have traveled many paths together and have supported one another as we pursued personal passions independently. By following our hearts and passions we have found happiness as individuals and that has made stronger as a couple.

Here’s to another fifteen years!

    1. Thank you, @jacqui_p:disqus! I feel fortunate for all kinds of reasons but this is sure one of them. Dave has always been supportive of my independent approach to live and I of his. Yay!
