What sports! I am in L.A. for two days, all work, and had one chance to see my family. My feet landed in Burbank at 5:30 p.m. last night and at 6:30 (hello, 9:30 pm EST!) I was dining with 17 family members, none of whom are even vegetarian! Our unruly gang of 18 met up at Sage Organic Vegan Bistro and the feast began.
We dug into this divine raw cheese plate long before I thought to take a pic.
Then I just started snapping food as it arrived – it’s certainly not everyone’s food but it gives you an idea of the range.
Cauliflower.
Mozzarella sticks and samosas.
This salad came with most entrée orders.
Mushroom steak dinner.
Linguine puttanesca.
Ravioli.
Jackfruit “fish” tacos.
What did I order? The Potato Broccoli Pierogie seared with soy ginger sauce served over lemon kale. Oh, my! So good.
Oops, I guess I got excited. Trust me, it was good!
The adults were really pleased with their meals. They looked shocked each time they took a bite, which was fun. My cousin said “I could eat vegan if someone else cooked it for me”. I reminded her that I don’t eat like that all the time and that vegan is easy! The older kids, who were a bit wary, loved their bean and brown rice tacos.
I loved every single thing I tried and, believe me, I sampled from many plates! I can’t wait to go back.
A special thanks to the fine folks at Sage who gave us the upstairs and were so incredibly patient. And to my Dad who treated the entire clan to a fantastic, compassionate meal.
