A few months ago I received one of those deliveries that amaze food writers – a huge, beautifully packaged box filled with vegan goodies.
Victoria Fine Foods vegan pasta sauce, to be specific. I was provided free product in return for my honest opinion. And I am honestly wowed by these vegan sauces.
I write a great deal about living in the real, complex world. I live with a non-vegan husband (who is vegetarian at home) and we both try to make meals that are pleasing to each of us. I’m also on the go constantly for work and volunteer activities and as much as I would love to make every single meal from whole, unprocessed foods, sometimes I want a very quick meal. We have no problem relying on the occasional convenience foods – most of which are satisfying to both a vegan and non-vegan and are fairly wholesome. These sauces deliver on both counts.
We sampled all four Alfredo flavors
and the vegan vodka sauce.
They are all excellent. I’m partial to the Alfredo versions – I suspect because there aren’t a whole lot of awesome prepared vegan cream sauces on the market.
Whole wheat fettuccine with arugula pesto alfredo sauce.
Soba noodles with artichoke alfredo sauce and juicy green and red heirloom tomatoes.
But this vodka sauce is a real pleaser, too! (My husband’s favorite.)
Quinoa shells tossed with vodka sauce (we added fresh arugula to the sauce) and garnished with raw arugula and vegan Parmesan cheese.
We are now big fans the vegan pasta sauces and I think you will be, too (find a local retailer here). My thanks to Victoria Fine Foods for the opportunity to taste the wide variety of vegan options!

I LOVE these sauces! My Whole Foods finally started carrying them. I had the vodka sauce last week on gluten-free spaghetti with Upton’s Italian Seitan. So good! I also love the alfredo sauces!
I’ll have to check out my Whole Foods, too, Bianca!
