Friends, your support for my new book is astonishing! I have over 80 applicants to test recipes – and the apps keep coming in! – yet I only need ten additional testers. What’s a girl to do?! Well, it’s a great problem to have and I thank you. I will be in touch soon (and may think of a creative way to include those of you who I cannot add to the testing roster).
Today I wanted to quickly tell you about a collaboration with my husband. First, a bit about him.
Dave Burgess is a Senior Elite Coach and swimming specialist at Vanguard Endurance. He is a USAT Level 1 coach and has been involved in the triathlon community and endurance sports since 2000. He began his triathlon coaching career in 2009 and obtained his USA Triathlon coaching license in 2011. Dave is also a USA Cycling certified coach, as well as a certified USA Swimming and US Masters Swimming coach.
Dave comes from a strong swimming background, competing as a youth through collegiate Division II competition. He began running in early 2000 and soon after began racing competitively, including numerous half marathon and full marathon events. In 2006 Dave entered his first triathlon and quickly rose through the ranks to become an age group podium finisher. Six years later he has added top 10, and overall wins, to his accomplishments.
Dave works with athletes of all levels competing in distances from sprint triathlons to full Ironman distance events. He also provides individual and group coaching for swimmers looking to improve their technique, efficiency, and speed.
Recently, Dave has added programs geared towards assisting triathletes with their open water swimming technique as well as swimmers looking to move from pool competition to open water.
In addition to individual coaching, Dave runs workshops and clinics for triathlon clubs, running groups, and fitness centers, covering race nutrition, training plan creation, and race preparation. He also runs triathlon clinics, group training sessions, and is on the race staff for multiple regional triathlons. Dave is a contributor to the Multisport Zone column on USATriathlon.org
Okay, what does that have to do with me and this blog (other than I’m married to him and adore him)?
Plant-Based Meal Plans for Athletes
Dave just earned a Specialist in Performance Nutrition certificate so that he can add a nutrition component to his coaching. For athletes who want meal plans to support their performance Dave is committed to offering a plant-based approach:
Podium Training is excited to offer nutritional guidance and coaching to its list of offerings.
Dave Burgess is a certified specialist in performance nutrition. Dave, along with his wife – vegan lifestyle coach, educator, and cookbook author JL Fields – believe that the performance of an athlete isn’t solely based on what happens in the pool, on the bike, or at the track. What goes into the body to fuel, recover, and build the athlete is equally important.
Together, Dave and JL will develop whole food meal plans and provide supplement guidance for the optimum performance of Podium Training athletes and clients. Additionally, plant-centric plans can be created [this is where I come in!]. This can also include guidance and coaching on maintaining a plant-based diet during performance training.
For more information, or to schedule a call to discuss your needs, please email Dave directly.
I’m so excited about this!
By the way, if you are a swimmer or a triathlete working on your swim, don’t miss Dave’s new #WorkoutWednesday swim set series.
