Hey, how about some vegan travel tips?
And please pop over to One Green Planet to read all about a couple of my strategies to beat the heat when training which includes… (never mind, looks like One Green Planet took it down, so recipe below!)
…Chocolate “Ice Cream” for Breakfast
Training during the dog days of summer can be tough. One way to beat the heat is to get out early and to bring along water or an electrolyte beverage. I prefer electrolytes from mother nature–coconut water–with fresh lemon or lime juice.
What about after that hot workout? Try this cool, protein-packed breakfast filled with good carbohydrates.

We’re up early and plan to get out for a bike ride, looping the lake a couple of times, before watching the Tour de France. The rest of the day will be lakeside! If you’re in the U.S., how are you enjoying your Fourth of July?

Love that you got an extra room for your “equipment.” Rockstar move. 🙂
Happy 4th of July! I’m off to run Atlanta’s Peachtree Road Race for the 4th.
Hope you had a great race!
Love the apartment! It looks very homey to me and the area looks beautiful!
It’s truly one of my favorite places!
Home away from home! Looks like you are set for the week. Happy 4th!
Your ice cream breakfast looks like some of my favourite concoctions. Along with the oats and hemp, try throwing in some coconut flour : )
Coconut flour?! That sounds amazing!
love the video…just came back from long beach island vacation in nj…was tough to do the planning to make sure i had enuf food …love your blog…since i am on similar journey(running, biking, veggie garden)…inspired by macro(just read meg wolfe’s-“becoming whole” book)also and now intrigued by the pressure cooker. which one did u get?
Sue, thanks so much for commenting. Love that we are on a similar journey! Please keep in touch.
I got a Presto 6 quart from Amazon. LOVE it!
Books and a kindle and iPad on vacation?! My hubby packs his iPad, MacBook, and work laptop for business travel, his backpack weighs a ton! Love the extra accomodations for your equipment. 🙂
So jealous of your vacation, I need one soon! Too much heavy health issues going on with inlaws to use any of my vaca time though. 🙁 We’re having a quiet 4th so far since the family gathering was cancelled due to sick kids. I might work on our garden and go for a hike. 🙂
Christine, I hope you get some time away soon. You’ve been working hard!
I think sticking to any “diet” comes with preparation. I know that when I go on vacation and bring lots of healthy/vegan stuff with me I tend to eat much better than when I don’t. Truth-be-told, when I don’t go on vacation with a game plan I end up not eating a vegan diet and just end up feeling like crap and coming back almost depressed. Mostly depressed because I’ll feel terribly bloated from all the food and drinks I consume.
Christina, funny my husband and I just mentioned that yesterday. We splurge at dinner with no regrets because our eating during the day is super-health, thanks to advance planning!
great recipe! and what a gorgeous view from the window!! haha, double ipods double drinks 🙂
This recipe is no longer at the link. Saw it a while ago and wanted to make it but it’s no longer available anywhere online.
Well boo! I wonder why they took it down? Here it is!
