I recently opened up a pretty exciting package from Blue Mountain Organics Cashew Creamery. The contents:
I was so excited to try these flavors out! I’ve been reading great stuff on blogs about this raw and organic vegan ice cream, most recently on City|Life|Eats, and I was ready to dig in. But first, a few details:
- The cashew creams have about half the saturated fat content compared to dairy ice cream.
- They are sweetened with agave nectar.
- They use superfoods such as lucuma, maca, mesquite, and camu,
In addition, the ice cream is
- Dairy-Free, Vegan
- USDA Certified Organic
- Raw
- Soy-Free, Gluten-Free, GMO-Free
- Made in a Peanut-Free and Dairy-Free Facility
Sounds good. But do they taste good?
My omnivore husband and I grabbed spoons and began the taste-test. If you were in the kitchen you would have heard things like this. “Oh my god.” “That is ridiculous.” “You can’t have any more of this one, it’s mine.” Um, all three statements are attributed to him, the man who never met a pint of Ben and Jerry’s that he didn’t love. Yep, finally, a vegan ice cream that dazzled my husband!
He and I did differ in opinion on which were our favorites. But this is my blog so I give you my ratings.
I loved all three flavors but the Mango really did it for me. It kind of made my taste buds squeal. In a good way. Second, for me, was the cappuccino. Superb! Third, but still up there as oh-so-good, was the chocolate flavor. Now, I’m talking to the ladies, two weeks from now chocolate could be the winner because cycles change and sometimes mamma wants a sweet, fudgy fix. This will do it.
Oh, Dave’s favorite? Cappuccino. He literally walked out of the kitchen with it. Fine by me. Whenever he’s eating a plant-based treat, it’s a vegan victory!
Thank you, Blue Mountain Organics, for offering me a sample of your delicious non-dairy ice cream, in return for my honest review. I honestly love your ice cream.

Oh wow, I want some for myself! I’ll have to be on the lookout for some in our area!
It’s pretty awesome – hope you find some!
OMG this sounds like the perfect vegan ice cream. I wonder if I can get it in Austin!
Girl, this is YOUR kind of ice cream!
Lucky lucky JL (and JL husband) – I am obsessed with Blue Mountain Cashew Creamery, but cannot find it at any of the stores I shop at – one used to carry the Cappucino flavor, which is what I reviewed (thank you for linking) I want to try the other kinds too 🙂
Valerie, where are you located? I’d love to know which Whole Foods it is so we can try to get back in the store!

PS I actually think this ice cream is one of the best choices for convincing omni palates that Ben and Jerry is most definitely not where it is at.
Totally agree!
I can’t wait to try this!
It’s gooooood!
You lucky duck! That ice cream looks so great. I’m definitely going to have to watch for that at my local store. Thanks 🙂
You are welcome!
These look amazing, must look for them locally!
I think you’ll love it, Christine! We have similar tastes in food!
Mango would likely be the flavour I’d choose, too! I hope this comes to Canada one day. We could always use another vegan and raw ice cream brand!
It’s lovely, I think you’ll like it!
Hello Nicole, you can purchase our Cashew Cream from Upaya Naturals in Canada 🙂
