Oh, baby, I love me some french fries!
So I vlogged the recipe and process for you!
JL’s Beer Baked Sweet Potato French Fries PRINT RECIPE
Inspired by Chef Zachary of FLOW Restaurant
Ingredients
- 2 large white sweet potatoes, cut into wedges
- 1 bottle of beer (I used an India pale ale)
- 1 t red miso
- 2 T avocado oil
- 1/2 t hot curry powder
- 1/2 t cumin
- 3/4 t cinnamon
- Sea salt, to taste
Instructions
- Wash and cut sweet potatoes. Place in a shallow baking dish.
- Mix beer and miso and pour over the sweet potato wedges. Soak for at least one hour.
- Pre-heat oven at 450 for 15 minutes.
- Transfer sweet potato wedges into a large mixing bowl (do not keep the beer-miso mixture). Coat the sweet potato wedges with the avocado oil, curry, cumin and cinnamon.
- Place sweet potato wedges in one layer on a baking sheet, lined with foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Salt to taste.

These look amazing! I cant wait to try them! 🙂
Please let me know how you like them! The miso is totally optional — I just liked the idea of it 🙂
These look so delicious and your video is so cute! Your kitchen looks just like mine over the weekends!! 🙂
🙂 Thanks. OMG, you tell by the end of the video I couldn’t handle it. I had made two dishes and had to stop everything and clean! LOL
Looks super decadant!
yum.
Super yummy but really not all that decadent! (unless you avoid oil). That’s what I love about them. Spiked with flavor but at the and of the day just healthy sweet potatoes, healthy avocado oil and spices. Mmm Mmm!
I’ll definitely be sharing these with my carnivore boyfriend – you say “beer” and he’s in!
OMG, I’m laughing! Think that’s why my husband like them, too 😉 Let me know how you like them.
I’m a fry junky too. These are on the “to make” list!
You know I am, too! 🙂 Can’t wait to hear what you think of them!
I love vlogs! This recipe looks so great!! Definitely trying these soon!

I have a black AND a pink #vegan 🙂 tank! Couldn’t help myself 🙂
Love the vlog and the recipe, can’t wait to try these!
yum! wish I could have a taste right now . . .
I can’t wait to try these fries next week when I’m on vacation. LOVE the mix of seasonings–and the beer. Think it would work out w/o the avocado oil? I’m going to give it a try. Love the vlog!
Thank you! Oh yeah, you definitely don’t need avocado oil. Since I was going for the opposite of fried it just appealed to me as nice and light.
I love the idea of marinating the fries to soak up the flavors of the beer. I make baked regular and sweet potato fries fairly often, but I like this more elaborate twist on it!
Please let me know how you like it!
