I’m from Grand Rapids and admit that the guide mentioned is a welcome addition. I admit I only eat out at restaurants when I’m forced to travel, but it’s nice to know that there’s somewhere I can look locally if need be. We still only have one or two “real” vegan restaurants and only one “real” health food store that carries some of the vegan staples (no Whole Foods or Trader Joes,) but I do what I can with what I have. When you base a majority of your meals on veggies, seeds and natural foods, you really don’t need fancy

Meh. As an Irish girl I was excited to see that you linked something from the Irish Times but unfortunately I don’t really like the way that girl went about her argument. What have “junk food, fizzy drinks, alcohol, tea, coffee, and a dollop of cigarettes” got to do with promoting veganism? I think the easiest way to scare potential vegans and doubters away is to threaten that they’ll have to give everything they like. All of the above can be vegan, there are plenty of unhealthy vegans. Sorry for the rant! At least she tried, but I think many of my countrymen won’t bite
