Vegan Delish: A Recipe App! {GIVEAWAY}

by JL Fields on November 13, 2012

I am writing a very quick and fun post today!

My friend Carrie of Carrie on Vegan has developed a new iPhone app, Vegan Delish, that puts healthy, vegan recipes in the palm of your hand!

I downloaded the app last night and I have to say it’s super-easy to use.

The photos are gorgeous and the shopping list feature is fantastic (I can email it or, because I have a wireless printer connected to my iPhone, I can send the list from my handheld device to my printer!).  It’s a great tool.

I’m going to share an excerpt from Carrie’s press release on Vegan Delish below so you can learn more about it.  At the end of the press release I’m offering five of my readers the chance to win a free download of the app! (Already downloaded it? Enter anyway, and gift the download to a friend or family member!)

Carrie, congratulations on developing such a great tool and for offering my readers a chance to win!

New App for iPhones & iPads Featuring Healthy, Plant-Based Recipes

**Vegan Delish made the top 15 Food & Drink paid iPhone apps for November, 2012**

For new and veteran vegans and vegetarians, plus those wanting to explore the benefits of a plant-based diet, Vegan Delish is a just-released recipe app available for Apple handheld devices featuring innovative tools such as a digital shopping list and searchable categories including gluten-free, quick & easy, and kid-friendly. Vegan Delish inspires users to make whole food, plant-based meals that are as delicious as they are nutritious.

For the introductory price of only $1.99, users of Vegan Delish receive 50 recipes including California Kale Salad, Easiest Slow-Cooker Applesauce, Pumpkin Spice Muffins and Butternut Harvest Stew. Plus, once the app is purchased, access is included to all of the new recipes that are added monthly.

Each recipe features step-by-step instructions to transform simple ingredients into flavorful, health-promoting meals that everyone will enjoy. Best of all, all of the dishes are 100% vegan and gluten-free and made with no oils, salt or added sugars.

For kids or picky eaters, the Sneaky Greens Chocolate Smoothie includes a whole serving of spinach; it looks and tastes like a chocolate milkshake with no added sugar!

Vegan Delish recipes go beyond steamed vegetables. For example, the sweet and tangy Cashew Curry Sauce can be served over chopped kale to make a perfect lunch or dinner. Users learn how to make a simple blended Basic Avocado Dressing that takes a romaine salad from average to exceptional.

Following a health-promoting diet does not have to be boring or take a lot of time. The 4-Ingredient Hummus is perfect for an easy lunch or snack on the go and the Fast Food Greens recipe uses fresh greens and the rest of the ingredients come straight from the pantry.

All Vegan Delish recipes are carefully selected and tested for taste, nutrition and simple instructions including mouth-watering photos.

Vegan Delish features include:

100% whole food recipes with special categories that are easily searchable with multiple key words for:

Gluten-free * Low-sodium * No sugar added * Kid-Friendly * Oil-Free * Quick & Easy * Raw * Smoothies * Juices * Slow-Cooker * Mouth-watering photos * Smart shopping lists to add ingredients directly from selected recipes * Printing and emailing of recipes and shopping lists * Sharing on Twitter and Facebook * Rating and reviewing of recipes * Reference pages with expanded information on healthy cooking * Kitchen timer function * Recipe scaling for the servings needed * No ads within the app

A whole foods, plant-based diet is not only ideal for human health, but is also better for the environment and is compassionate to animals.

Vegan Delish was created by Carrie Forrest, author of the popular blog, Carrie on Vegan, that receives over 35,000 hits a month. I’ve got a couple of cookbooks on my iPad that I’ve used for cooking…makes it so easy just to have it open right there on the counter! A vegan recipe app sounds awesome!

In response to the question: I subscribe to about 50 vegan RSS feeds, scavenge the web for vegan recipes and ideas, and ‘cook’ with a microwave in my dorm room. It’s slow, tedious work but I’m committed to being a vegan flexible within her environment. Above all I yearn to cook and experiment – with my microwave & 2-qt slow cooker I can actually cook a lot more than I ever thought I could.

Sorry, I can’t wait for the Giveaway to be over. I’ve just downloaded the app …it looks like the perfect solution for me. The hardest part of cooking for my family is deciding what to cook, making a list, and going to the store. Looks like this app will make all that easier so I can enjoy the best parts: cooking then eating. Thanks for this post and also your blog has been very helpful.
