After years of fun and friendship through social media, I finally met LJ in person on my last day in Miami!
T.H.R.I.V.E. is a small and bright restaurant
that seats about six people inside; outdoor seating is available, too.
In addition to the menu,
daily specials are offered on a board.
LJ and I started with kombucha – on tap!
I opted for a green apple and ginger fermented drink.
Truthfully, I have never been a kombucha fan but now that I have had it on tap I’m a total convert! So refreshing.
I began my meal with a cup of gazpacho,
made fresh in a Vitamix, which passed around to Dave and LJ to sample, too. We three agreed – fantastic soup!
Dave ordered the raw “no egg” sandwich.
LJ opted for the cooked matar paneer.
I selected the raw cabbage taco.
The taco base: a superb, spicy seasoned nut “meat”. I’ve had collard green and romaine “wraps” but never thought to use cabbage; it was crisp, like a taco shell!
Once again, the dining trio agreed that the food was amazingly good. The entrees at T.H.R.I.V.E. are filling and all come with a side salad that could stand alone as a meal.
LJ and I decided to finish the meal off with sweet treats –
a lemon coconut truffle (raw) and chocolate cake (I don’t think this was raw). I had a taste of the cake, super yummy and sweet, but devoured the truffle, which was great combo of sweet (coconut) and sour (lemon).
In addition to great food you can get a variety of juices at T.H.R.I.V.E. and I’ll be sure to do that next time. And there will be a next time!
It was great to meet LJ – I’ve loved her online and love her even more IRL! Be sure to follower her tumblr!
