FOOD IS ACTIVISM: Making a difference, one meal at a time

My friend Susan and my Aunt Candy read my blog.  Susan has been eating a 80 – 85% vegan diet for some time now, primarily for health reasons.  My aunt, a vegetarian, tells me that she is eating more vegan meals. It’s a reminder that while this blog is about my personal journey as a new vegan, not all of my readers are vegan.

When a non-vegan makes a vegan meal as a result of reading this blog it’s a wonderful thing.

I am going to start highlighting recipes and meals that my non-vegan family and friends create or try, to remind, and encourage, other non-vegans that you don’t have to be vegan to eat vegan.  I will also feature recipes from vegans trying to influence non-vegans through delicious food!  Each time someone enjoys a vegan meal an animal isn’t harmed.  That is a victory.  As I have learned from Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, Isa Chandra Moskowitz, and Jasmin Singer and Mariann SullivanFood is Activism.

I’m launching “Food is Activism” as a new series on this blog.  I will feature recipes by vegans and non-vegans who are making a difference, one meal at a time.

If you find yourself making vegan meals for non-vegans, trying to influence change, please let me know! Send me your recipe and a photo and tell me a little bit about why you are making vegan meals.  It just might end up in the “Food is Activism” series!
