Erawan Thai Cuisine, Bayside (Queens), NY

I had a lunch date with a former boss yesterday. My local go-to places for lunch in Queens are Avli if I want to stick close to campus and Oneness Fountain Heart when I have a little more time. We needed to stay close to campus so she suggested one of her favorite places, Erawan Thai Cuisine.

I sipped on Jasmine tea while considering the menu. It was a brisk day so I wanted something warm but then a raw salad caught my eye and I couldn’t get it out of my mind.

I opted for a warm, tofu appetizer to begin.

TAO HOO TOD: Fried tofu / ground peanut / sweet chili dip $8

The dip was the star (I mean, come on, it was tofu) and was a great combo of sweet and spicy. There was tons of tofu so I had plenty to take away as I only wanted a few pieces — my heart was set on a raw salad that looked so good!

CRUNCHY SALAD: Julienne of Jicama / Green apple / Napa cabbage / Carrots /crushed peanuts / Ginger vinaigrette $8

Oh, yeah, the salad was exactly what I wanted. Indeed crunchy, incredibly filling and the ginger vinaigrette is a new favorite.

Lucky me, now I have a go-to Thai restaurant to enjoy just minutes from my office!

  1. It all looks great.  I thought that was bread at first but it was tofu!!!! Cool that there is a “trusted” Thai place!
