Bold Vegan: A Cookbook GIVEAWAY

Happy New Year!

This is a day when many people think about changes. Big changes and small changes.

This is a day when some people think about trying a vegan diet for 21-days, a month, or for a lifetime.

This is the day I decided to share a really fun new cookbook by Molly Patrick and Luanne Teah.

bold vegan

Bold VEGAN: Food for the Body & Soul, with a forward from Dr. Neal Barnard (and an endorsement from yours truly!), is packed with 90 recipes that will knock your socks off. The recipes are accessible, comforting and super-creative. I particularly love that each recipe has a difficulty rating of 1 through 5, i.e. the Jalapeno Lime Slaw is rated 1, the Roasted Root Veggies are 2, the Mushroom Stroganoff is 3, the French Onion Soup is 4, and the Veggie Pot Pie is 4 and 1/2. You can skim through this book and, based on how much time you want to spend in the kitchen, find just the right recipe to make.

The recipes are broken out into the following categories:

  • Good Morning Sunshine! (Breakfast)
  • Bowls of Goodness and Yum (Soups & Stews)
  • I’m Hungry! (Main Meals)
  • A Little Extra Love on the Side (Salads, Sides &  Dips)
  • I Need Food Now (Super Fast Snacks)
  • Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera (Additional Recipes & Miscellaneous)

This colorful cookbook, with lots of photos, is great for veg-curious folks, new vegans, or longer-term vegans.

The authors are extending a special off to you, my dear readers.  You can purchase the digital copy of this book for $10 (regularly $14.99) by entering the coupon code boldlove here. (If you prefer a paperback copy of the book, you can order Bold VEGAN: Food for the Body & Soul from Amazon.)

  1. To me, BOLD Vegan flavors Include Olives, Hot Peppers, Sauerkraut, and extra dark chocolate – my favorite flavors!

  2. Bold vegan to me means using spices like paprika, chili powder, red pepper flakes and cumin. 🙂

  3. I think bold flavors result from complexity–lots of onions and garlic, a free hand with spices and fresh herbs, and not muted by too much oil or creamy sauces.

  4. When I think bold vegan, I think of a dish with some acid – lemons, limes, tomatoes, sour sauces – to open up the flavor. Of course, spice too!

  5. Bold vegan flavors would be using marvelous herbs without lots of salt and teaching me to use veggies I’ve never tried before.

  6. Sounds great! Bold Vegan to me means taking back typically “meaty” flavors and textures and surprising non-vegans!

  7. Bold vegan flavors to me means the recipes will have depth and complexity. Spices, garlic, onions, miso and tamari are some of the specific items that come to mind.

  8. Hmm, to me bold flavors mean spice, but hopefully not too hot! =) And BBQ and paprika….yum.

  9. Bold flavors make me think spicy or curry.
Bold can also mean willing to experiment and try new recipes using unfamiliar foods. Either way is a win!

  10. My favorite bold vegan flavors come around in ethnic foods like complex curries or spicy enchiladas.

  11. I think of colors when I think of bold Vegan. Red, yellow, orange, and going bold with my food. 🙂

  12. Bold vegan flavors to me are sriracha and other hot pepper flavors, curry, garlic, onions. Pretty much anything with loads of flavor from herbs and spices. 🙂

  13. I have become addicted to Asian chili sauce with my seared tofu! Also like “smoked” things, the most unique being a smoked sweet potato topped with the seared tofu that had been marinated in a chili sauce marinade. AWEOME!

  14. When I think of BOLD, I think flavors that dance on the palate and pop. Spicy, savory, sweet and acid all at once.

  15. Bold vegan flavors include cilantro, coriander, citrus, coconut, ginger, galangal, cumin, and lemongrass.

  16. I want to get on a vegan lifestyle but need to make delicious foods that will keep me on the straight and narrow. Having great cookbook ideas and directions like this is just the ticket!

  17. Love the name but I think what I like more is the difficulty rating – as a Mum of 3 who are 5 and under I don’t have a lot of time to make dinner most days and we like easy comfort food that is quick.

  18. Mustard! I used to hate mustard, but it is such a versatile condiment that I have grown to love it. I take a baked mashed potato, scoop out the pulp, mash it with a fork, add in a teaspoon or less of mustard, mix and add it back to the potato. No fat, stuffed potatoes (paprika to garnish). Or, I put it in tofu scramble, added to macaroni, or I make a fat-free salad dressing with lemon juice, mustard, agave and soy sauce (or alternative of choice). May 2014 be healthy and happy for all!

  19. The first things that popped in my mind were avocado, peppers and salsa… I think I’m craving Mexican 🙂

  20. To me, bold vegan would be veggies and grains flavored with onions, garlic and spices.

  21. smoked paprika, hot sauce, balsamic vinegar, mustard, garam masala, wasabi…thank you for having the giveaway!

  22. Sounds great – just the thing for a newby vegan like me. I went vegetarian about 1-1/2 yrs ago, but vegan only a few months.

  23. To me, “bold” evokes unusual combinations, fun flavors put together in creative ways.

  24. Bold flavor is a lot of flavor and a lot of depth with contrasting spice combos. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

  25. When I think bold I think expert use of spices and fusion of flavors. If these shine through a dish, I can even impress my carnivorous family. 🙂

  26. Bold flavors to me mean spicy spicy spicy. I love red pepper flakes, sriracha sauce, and chili powder. The spicier the better!

  27. Well seasoned food, full of spices and spiciness. Also with sour notes, such as tamarind, lime, lemon.

  28. Crank the Scoville dial up to 11! A blend of cumin, corriander, fenugreek, turmeric, and black pepper tastes rather bold as well (without the heat).

  29. Bold Vegan conjures images of colorful, spicy food….just the way my family likes it!

  30. Bold flavors to me are rich and complex, I love garlic, lemon juice, hot sauce, ginger, nut butters, and a great texture! 🙂

  31. I just saw a video review of this book. Looks great! My bold flavors are hot and spicy!

  32. Bold for me right now is GINGER!! Fresh grated ginger tea, fresh knob of ginger in my green juice & smoothies, & dark chocolate covered ginger chews!!!

  33. Bold flavors mean lots of spices and ingredients with lots of flavor like onions, garlic, tomatoes, etc.

  34. With the term “Bold Vegan” I think of chipotle, ginger, lime, garlic, herbs, cayenne – American Southwestern and East Indian cuisine. Amazing flavors!

  35. When I think of BOLD Vegan I think of usual combinations of flavors. Using ingredients that not a lot of people think of using together, but they have in their cupboards. This is about being innovative and not afraid to try something new!

  36. When I think of bold, in talking about vegan cuisine, for some reason I automatically think of some sort of creamy or biting condiment to spruce up a recipe. Whether it be a vegan cheese sauce, or a homemade BBQ spread, bold in my book equates to an essential addition of pizazz to an already balanced vegan meal. Just my two cents…

  37. Spices are bold vegan (or not vegan!) flavors to me! Cayenne, tumeric, curry, cumin- love that they give so much flavor & antioxidants without any fat

  38. Chili powder, chilies, cumin and cilantro or anything that brings out great flavor in foods and enhance them.
